Curtis McNeal will start at tailback for USC on Friday against Colorado regardless of whether senior Marc Tyler is cleared to play, Coach Lane Kiffin said Wednesday.
McNeal, a junior who will be making his first start, rushed for a career-best 145 yards and two touchdowns in 20 carries against Stanford before fumbling on the final play of the 56-48 triple-overtime defeat at the Coliseum.
McNeal scored on runs of 61 and 25 yards.
The former Venice High standout rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown in 17 carries against California and had 118 yards in 24 carries against Notre Dame.
Tyler suffered a dislocated left shoulder against Cal. He aggravated the injury on his first carry against Stanford and has not practiced this week.
